Introduction to XML and Additional Resources
Metadata is uploaded to Metadata Hopper via the XML (eXtensible Markup Language) format. XML is a computer language written in plain text format used for storing and transporting data. It's designed to be readable by both humans and machines and is compatible across computer platforms. Broadly put, XML can store data by surrounding notable information with matching start and end tags thereby creating elements.
